Smoking Policies:
  • in May 2003, the Netherlands was the first European country to introduce warning labels on cigarette packages
  • partial ban on advertising and promotion
  • smoking is banned in public places, except for hospitality
  • hospitality ban will be put in place on July 1, 2008
  • tax increases will also be put on tobacco on July 1, 2008
  • In July 2008, smoking was banned in the hospitality industry and sport canteens.
