Research Interests
Dr. Sebrié’s primary interest is focused on the implementation and evaluation of effective tobacco control policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.  He is currently working on a research project evaluating the impact of comprehensive smokefree public policies on cardiovascular events, as well as public beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors related to the policy. This study is being conducted in two developing countries (e.g., Uruguay and Panama). He is also leading a project evaluating the effectiveness of pictorial-based health warning labels in four English-speaking Caribbean countries (e.g., Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago). Dr Sebrié is a co-investigator in the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project (ITC Project), an international research collaboration to rigorously evaluate the psychosocial and behavioral effects of national-level tobacco control policies throughout the world, with the aim of contributing to the evidence base for the strong implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
