Cessation

Cessation

This report highlights the findings from several ITC cessation studies that were published in the October 2010 supplement of Nicotine and Tobacco Research, as well as other published ITC research. ITC project findings support Article 14 Guidelines on Tobacco Dependence and Cessation as they provide evidence of a high global demand for cessation, yet low rates of physician and other health professional advice to quit smoking in many countries and the efficacy of Quitline campaigns for those most in need of help. The report was disseminated at the Fourth Conference of the Parties (COP-4) to the WHO FCTC in Punta del Este, Uruguay where Parties adopted Article 14 Guidelines on November 19, 2010.
